Top silage quality for our own home-made dairy products

Gerald and Margit Kettl run the family farm together in the Ried i.I. district in Upper Austria and are currently milking about 60 Simmental dairy cows and they also enjoy success at cattle-breeding events. With their own fresh cheese and yoghurt production facility on the farm, the Kettl family has already made a regional name for itself – and will soon have its own self-service sales room.

Milk quality is influenced directly by the properties of the basic feed – so it is very important for us to keep our silage in perfect condition and to avoid any mouldy patches developing inside the silo. I made a conscious decision in favour of Mammut silo shears because I really like the result and the cut surface. We are navigating towards direct marketing, so naturally we need everything to run perfectly and in a time-efficient manner, just like our requirements for our livestock feeding operation.
