The largest type in the shear grab SILO CAT enables enormous quantities of silage to be removed quickly but carefully on big carrier vehicles. With an opening height of 1.30 m and a block volume of up to 3.62 m³ this range of models for professional farms leaves no wish unanswered. The SILO CAT XL can also split up round bales effortlessly.

Universal coupling operation with carrier vehicles

With SILO CAT, a tremendously wide range of attachment options is available (rear of tractor with/without lifting equipment, front-loaders, farmyard loaders, wheeled loaders and telehandlers). This translates into maximum convenience because it is no longer necessary to perform time-consuming adjustment of the silage shears to an individual carrier vehicle. All of the attachments made by MAMMUT are screwed and are easy to replace without the need for welding – which means that the SILO CAT can also simply continue to be used when switching to a different carrier vehicle. Because of its size, Type XL is frequently used in combination with a dedicated wheeled loader attachment, or can also be rear-mounted using a three-point attachment.

A corn plate assures loss-free transport

If the rear wall is closed with a corn plate, this prevents small-grained silage such as corn silage getting lost over the back while being transported. As standard, the frame design of the SILO CAT H is open at the back. The corn plate prevents the loss of material and can be ordered without any surcharge. However, a floor plate to cover the tines is available as a separate accessory item.

Hinged floor plate as a useful addition

This accessory is available for all SILO CAT models. The tines on the silage shears can be covered with a floor plate and this is the perfect way to prevent the loss of fine-grained feed while in transit. On Type XL, the floor plate is controlled hydraulically. Additional activation options and valves make the hydraulic hinged plate easier to operate if the carrier vehicle does not have sufficient dual-action functions. The hinged floor plate cannot be combined with the pusher.

Ideal supplement for automatic feeding: The pusher

With this additional option, the silo block is set down conveniently using the hydraulic full-size pusher. This accessory is perfectly suited to the filling of automatic livestock feeding systems or for laying in a stock of silage. This accessory is also ideal for setting down an undamaged block of corn silage in an animal shed, or for loading the feed mixer where the loader does not have sufficient headroom for tipping. This means that there is no longer any need to tilt the tines. If there are not enough double-action control units on the carrier vehicle, it is advisable to install a sequential shift valve (which can also be sourced from MAMMUT).

Hydraulic pusher is available as an option.

With the full-size pusher, the silage block is pushed conveniently off the tines.

When removing silage from the feed silo, the pusher is perpendicular on the frame of the silo shears.

Hydraulic activation of the SILO CAT

When equipped with a hydraulic accessory such as lifting gear, a floor plate or a pusher, the silage shears can be factory-fitted with control elements or valves from MAMMUT. This means you are not required to use the connection options on the carrier vehicle.

HYDROFIX multi-hose coupler advisable

HYDROFIX multi-hose couplers make it easier to connect and disconnect shear grabs, especially when in use frequently, enabling you to work effectively without undue effort and without oil loss. For this, you can choose from a selection of several coupling variants.
