This shear grab is ideally suited to rear mounting on tractors with power ratings of more than 100 hp as well as for wheeled loaders and telehandlers. Thanks to the big opening height of 1.10 m, the SILO CAT H is also able to split and cut up round bales conveniently. With a block volume of 1.48 to 2.12 m³, this series offers versatile options for use on larger farms because of their powerful technology.

Accessories

Silo shears can be combined in various ways

The SILO CAT can be rear-mounted on tractors (with and without lifting gear) and on front loaders, wheeled loaders and telehandlers without time-consuming adaptation. All the attachment fixtures are screwed and are easy to replace without the need for welding – which means that the SILO CAT can also simply continue to be used when switching to a different carrier vehicle. The most frequent type of attachment for the Type H is the wheeled loader or telehandler type as well as conventional three-point attachment.

SILO CAT with corn plate for a closed rear wall

If the rear wall is closed with a corn plate, this prevents silage such as corn silage getting lost over the back during the storage operation. As standard, the grey frame of the SILO CAT H opens at the back. A floor plate to cover the tines is available as a separate accessory.

Practical tip: Hinged floor plate for fine-grained silage

The floor plate is available as an accessory for all SILO CAT models. The tines on the silage shears are covered by a plate to prevent losses when transporting fine-grained feed. The hinged floor plate is easy to activate hydraulically using the Type H silo shears. A variety of activation options and additional valves makes the hydraulic hinged plate easier to operate if the carrier vehicle does not have sufficient dual-action functions. This accessory cannot be combined with the pusher.

If the SILO CAT is equipped with a hydraulic full-size pusher, the feed block can be set down conveniently as a single unit. This accessory is perfectly suited to the filling of automatic livestock feeding systems or for laying in a stock of silage. Another type of application is for setting down feed on the feed trough, or for loading the feed mixer where the loader does not have sufficient headroom for tipping. It is easy to push the silo block into the mixer carriage without the need to tilt the shears. If there are not enough double-action control units on the carrier vehicle, it is advisable to install a sequential shift valve (which can also be sourced from MAMMUT).

Hydraulic pusher is available as an option.

With the full-size pusher, the silage block is pushed conveniently off the tines.

When removing silage from the feed silo, the pusher is perpendicular on the frame of the silo shears.

Additional control units and valves for SILO CAT

In combination with hydraulically activated accessories such as lifting gear, floor plates or pushers, it is advisable to install additional equipment with MAMMUT control elements and/or valves. This means that carrier vehicles are also possible that cannot deliver a sufficient number of double-action functions.
