New model series of silage spreaders and silage rollers
Silage spreader SILO FOX
Silage distributor ensures best forage quality
With the changeover to the new 2022 model series, the standard equipment also changes: From now on, all types (including the two larger silage spreaders GIGANT and KOLOSS) are equipped with water-fillable drums as standard. This means maximum added value when ensiling, as the entire combination can be ballasted even better and there is also good compensation for the rear weight or the silage roller in the rear of the tractor.
The hydraulic lines on the SILO FOX silage spreader are now well hidden: The central positioning of the hoses means that the flow of forage is not disturbed and the grass cannot get caught in the hoses. In addition, the hydraulics remain well protected thanks to the central position in the headstock. So nothing stands in the way of a free and homogeneous ensiling process without forage jams.
The connection of the protective bracket has also changed on the new model of silage distributors: Mounted higher up, the new design allows for even more comfortable work and also less accumulation of the harvested forage during distribution. In addition, the new guard is stronger and more solidly built.
In addition to the technical features of the new silage distributor series, the design of the devices has also been adapted and changed. Together with the SILO KOMPAKT silage roller, the popular MAMMUT silage spreader often forms a powerful unit in the silo. Accordingly, during the new development, care was taken to ensure that the distributor and roller technology not only fit together well in terms of their mode of operation, but also visually. The improvements and design adaptations were taken into account from the smallest type CLASSIC to the KOLOSS. The result is impressive.
Thanks to decades of experience in the field of silage distribution, many ideas and tips have always been collected from practitioners. In the course of the new SILO FOX silage distributor model range, MAMMUT now brings a more diverse range of accessory options: The optional baffle plate package, for example, protects the tractor from dirt and dust and contributes to an even spreading pattern. If the baffle plate package is combined with the road lighting system, which is also available as an accessory, it can be mounted quickly and easily using magnets – so the silage spreader is ready for silage work or road travel in no time at all. Also new in the range are the side limiting discs, which ensure even better longitudinal distribution for high forage quantities.

Optimum compaction with the new silage roller
In order to ensure a long service life of the silage rollers, the technology of the new SILO KOMPAKT series has been further refined. The result is adjustable plain bearing elements that are easy to change and can also be readjusted at a later date without much effort. This protects the silage roller in the long term and the frame remains well protected even during side shifting. In addition, this means long-lasting machine use and safe harvesting technology that you can rely on.
Experience with silage rollers has shown that a flexible adjustment of the total weight brings numerous advantages when compacting the silage. With the SILO KOMPAKT, for example, it is not only possible to fill the roller body and the frame itself with water without any problems – the massive headstock can also be filled with water through an opening on the top and thus ballasted. So if the roller frame is large enough, all parts can be filled and the weight increased. However, the silage rollers from MAMMUT are also well suited for lighter tractors and not so large technology due to the flexible weight adjustment. In addition, new accessories such as ballast weights for the headstock now add even more weight to the implement.
At the same time as the new model series, the SILO KOMPAKT silage compaction rollers are now available with even more accessories: Optional concrete or magnetite weights for the headstock ideally secure a maximum weight of the unit. The special feature here is that the weights for the headstock can also be easily combined with the additional weights on the frame. The high-quality design of the silage roller ensures this. And even more is always possible – for very large carrier vehicles and high total weights, MAMMUT now also offers a ready-made magnetite filling for the headstock as additional equipment.
Just like the silage spreaders, the silage rollers have also been given a new look in the course of the technical innovations. Whether with or without additional weights, the MAMMUT compaction roller represents a uniform product family with many advantages in terms of silage quality. Delivering an effective job in the bunker silo should be the top priority when harvesting green forage, that’s for sure. The interaction of distribution and compaction technology as well as the recovery performance of the harvesting vehicles is particularly important. To ensure that the silage spreaders and silage rollers also look good, great importance was attached to a uniform look during the redesign.
A long value retention of the silage roller not only saves nerves but also time and costs. In conjunction with the adjustable plain bearing elements on the sliding models, large main bearing points further ensure the machine’s durability. All components of the silage compaction roller – both the roller body and the frame of the machine – are powder-coated. Your silage roller will therefore remain in perfect condition for a long time, allowing you to concentrate on the essential work during forage harvesting.

The advantages in practice
Spreading and compacting silage - what is the real benefit?
- Spreading and compacting with only one vehicle
- Increased capacity and fewer bottlenecks in the silo
- More time for compaction thanks to effective distribution technology
- Safe working on the edges of the bunker silo
- Air holes and later fermentation nests are avoided
- Less reheating in the silage
- Optimal compaction without "mattress effect”
- Effective distribution and compaction technology saves time and money
