Efficient distribution of large quantities of forage in the mobile silo

During the maize harvest, very large quantities of forage arrive at the mobile silo within a short space of time. This high throughput of the harvesting chain places particular demands on the subsequent silage distribution. To ensure that the silage pile can be built up evenly and that optimal compaction is possible afterwards, the maize silage must be collected without delay, guided in a controlled manner and spread evenly across the area.
Uneven unloading piles, varying delivery volumes and limited time windows make precise working in the mobile silo essential. Only by depositing the material in even layers can air pockets be avoided and consistent silage quality be ensured.
The MAMMUT SILO PUSH silage dozer blade has been developed precisely to meet these requirements. It combines a large working width with hydraulically folding side wings that can be flexibly adapted to different operating conditions. Both wings can be moved forwards or backwards independently of one another. This allows the chopped maize to be guided precisely or distributed evenly across the entire working width.

Foldable side wings for maximum flexibility

The side wings of the SILO PUSH can be hydraulically controlled independently of one another. Their position determines how the material is guided in front of the blade. This enables the driver to react directly to varying unloading volumes, silo widths and areas of the drive-in silo.
With the wings positioned at the front, a large collection area is created. If the wings are opened or positioned differently, the direction in which the forage is distributed changes. For working along the silo wall, the wing on the wall side can be folded back.

Handling large quantities of forage

When unloading in front of the silo, large piles of forage often form, which then need to be pushed directly into the mobile silo. Side wings folded forwards hold the maize silage together in front of the blade and prevent it from spilling out to the sides.
This allows the unloaded quantities to be precisely collected using the particularly sturdy and powerful SILO PUSH silage dozer blade and incorporated into the silo. The robust construction of the side wings ensures that the material is guided safely without any lateral loss. This quickly clears the area in front of the silo, allowing subsequent transport vehicles to unload without delay.

Precise adjustment of the spread pattern

As both side wings are controlled separately, the spreading direction can be adjusted whilst working. The forage can be directed precisely to the left or right, or spread across the entire width.
This creates uniform layers that can be compacted immediately afterwards by the roller. As a result, the silo bed is built up quickly and the time available for subsequent compaction is utilised optimally.

Working closer to the silo wall

Particularly during the hectic maize harvest, one thing counts above all else: speed. The chopped crop must be collected swiftly and distributed evenly throughout the silo. However, precision must not be compromised. The folding side wings really come into their own, particularly at the edges of the silos. They make it possible either to deliberately direct the material away from the wall or to push it precisely right up to the edge of the silo.
This allows better use to be made of the available silo width and enables the material to be moved precisely in the desired direction. This ensures a flexible working method and guarantees even distribution.

Robust technology for the maize harvest

During the maize harvest, the machinery used must operate reliably within a short time window. The folding side wings in particular are subjected to high loads, as they must accommodate and guide large harvest volumes whilst remaining stable under constant material pressure. High-performance hydraulic cylinders and a robust construction ensure that the wings operate safely and in a controlled manner even under maximum stress.
The SILO PUSH is therefore designed for heavy-duty use and regular operation in mobile silos. Further features ensure both robust operation and a high level of user comfort:

HARDOX skid plate:

The wear-resistant steel protects the heavily stressed underframe and extends the service life of the silage dozer blade.

Front and rear scraper strips:

These durable strips enable smooth pushing and pulling manoeuvres and facilitate corrections during distribution.

Short, solid mounting bracket:

The compact design keeps the implement close to the carrier vehicle and improves visibility of the working area.

Protective grille with good visibility:

The driver can keep an eye on the maize silage and the position of the blade even when handling large quantities of forage.

Chamfered backflow guide:

It directs any maize forage flowing backwards back towards the front and keeps the area in front of the carrier vehicle clear.

Large working width, compact transport position

A large working width is required in the mobile silo. However, when moving between different sites, the silage dozer blade must be as compact as possible.
Folding in the side wings significantly reduces the width. Both SILO PUSH models can not only be moved into a compact transport position, but the side wings can also be folded completely backwards, making the machine particularly narrow and safe for road travel. The SILO PUSH SP 350 achieves a transport width of 1.90 metres with a working width of 3.50 metres. The SILO PUSH SP 400 folds down from a working width of 4.00 metres to a transport width of 2.50 metres.

“For safe road transport, the SILO PUSH can also be fitted with marker lights. These ensure better visibility in public traffic and increase safety when travelling between the farmyard and the mobile silo.”

4 m working width
1,250 kg net weight

The Silage Dozer Blade 400 is designed for high-performance carrier vehicles and large harvest volumes. With a working width of four metres and a folding range of up to 190°, it offers particularly extensive adjustment options.
Optionally, the silage dozer blade can be fitted with a hydraulic swivel mechanism. This allows the entire blade to be swivelled to the side as well, enabling it to be adapted even more precisely to the respective working area.

The SP 350 silage dozer blade is the compact version for carrier vehicles up to 150 PS. Its side wings can be folded up to 35° forwards and 90° backwards. The total folding range is therefore 125°.
The SILO PUSH 350 is therefore suitable for farms requiring a compact and manoeuvrable silage dozer blade with flexibly adjustable side wings.

Silage dozer blade and silage roller as a combination

An efficient silage operation requires both rapid distribution and intensive compaction. The silage dozer blade and the silage roller perform different, coordinated tasks.
The SILO PUSH silage dozer blade moves the delivered feed and distributes it in even layers. The SILO KOMPAKT silage roller then concentrates the weight on its roller rings and transfers it precisely to the maize silage.
When both implements are used together on a suitable carrier vehicle, spreading and compaction can be carried out as part of a single work cycle. This ensures the compaction process is utilised particularly efficiently and reduces time pressure during the maize harvest.

Homogeneous mix rations thanks to intelligent technology

Nowadays, to achieve high performance levels with healthy animals, good herd management with the right feeding system is required. There is an endless range of options, particularly with feed mixing technology and the associated weighing devices. For the PROFI MIX range of feed mixers, MAMMUT offers simple adding scales as well as programmable weighing systems. Thanks to smart tools, these various scale sets can be adapted to suit on-site conditions – individually for every farm.

The practical advantages of a weighing system

Cattle really only enjoy eating tasty, high-quality feed. However, this also means that every animal tends to seek out its personal favourites from the ration presented – which means that lower-ranking cattle often do not get an opportunity to access the same calibre of energy supply as others. If you use a weighing system on the feed mixer wagon, this can deliver a few practical benefits:

  • Homogeneous ration: Every animal in each group gets the same high-quality feed from the same ration. This minimises selective feeding at the feed trough.
  • Stable pH value: The animals are motivated by uniformly weighed out mix rations to eat more frequently, which means that they maintain a consistent pH value in their rumen. This in turn means that feed rich in raw fibre (hay, straw, silage) can be presented in precise quantities. This prevents irregular amounts of power feed and the resultant fluctuations in rumen pH balance.
  • Performance-based feeding: With a weighing unit on the mixer it is possible to provide feed to individual groups based on their needs and to dose the required components accurately. Especially during the lactation phase it is important to provide cattle with sufficient nutrients and with a balanced ration. In contrast, dairy cattle who are not producing milk need to have different mixtures – having a scale equips you with a wide range of options.
  • Smart technology: Good herd management also includes putting together an appropriate mix ration. This is based on putting together a vast range of different weighing systems and feed components, controlled directly from smartphone or tablet. This tool is the ideal supplement for other digital Smart Farming concepts.
