Continuously rising performance requirements for milk production require improvements to be made at all levels. Whether feeding livestock, herd management or work in the fields – in all areas, and particularly over the last few years, there is an identifiable trend in favour of efficiency improvements and the relieving of workload. Our focus is on the quality of basic feed

Many farmers place great importance on performance-based feed, they go to great efforts to put together appropriate rations and often seek the advice of feed consultants or vets. To assure animal health and high performance levels on a genuinely long-term basis, careful production of basic feed is absolutely crucial. With MAMMUT’s silage and animal feeding technology you can assure the quality of feed from harvesting to feed distribution, thanks to their carefully thought-out solutions.

From consultancy advice to service

We take time for our customers. Many decision-making factors have a role to play in the sale of a machine, whether for XL silo tongs or for a small concrete mixer. In our consultancy work, we draw on our experience in relation to animal feeding technology and concrete mixers and can provide you with a short and simple way of obtaining all the information you may need. After all, it is only through listening carefully and understanding the problems of everyday farming life that user-friendly and above all commercially successful technology can be developed.

Silo tongs, a successful project

When MAMMUT developed the new 2017 series of silo tongs, it had defined a new milestone for silage extraction technology. These silage cutter tongs came into being over a 2-year period of development and testing by a product designer after which they were ready for volume production. Our committed project team created a machine that is designed for ultimate workloads and is able to meet future requirements for silage extraction.

Many of them have a farming background and therefore understand what is really needed, and what makes sound practical sense. Successful for many years

MAMMUT, a family-managed business, is currently being run by CEO Reinhold Frauscher, the second generation to do so. Founded in 1957 by Josef Frauscher, originally as a forge for agricultural machinery, the business is now known across Europe as a manufacturer of quality silage & animal feeding technology, and of reliable concrete mixers. With his wife Sabine and his daughter Eva at his side, as well as a team of motivated employees, Reinhold Frauscher has all he needs to navigate towards a successful future. For you as a sales partner or customer, this means an uncomplicated working relationship with scope for face-to-face contact and ease of access on matters of all kinds.

More than 60 years of experience

Our company history makes the MAMMUT company what it is today. These decades of experience equip us with the production facilities in Gurten (Upper Austria) capable of producing high-quality and customer-facing machines for the farming sector. Founded in 1957 as a forge for agricultural machinery by Josef Frauscher, he identified the potential back in the Sixties and produced the company’s first front loader, known as ‘MAMMUT I’, with the name inspired by the similarity to the tusks on a mammoth. The name MAMMUT stands for strength, stability and reliability and it went on to become the name with which we are familiar today. These front loaders rapidly became successful in Austria and development work continued – until the fully-hydraulic drive-in front loader appeared on the market for the latest models of tractor. Parallel to this, ever since 1980 the family forced concrete mixer has been included in the MAMMUT product range and it was this product that enabled us to embark on export business. More than 21,000 of the TURBO MIX range of MAMMUT concrete mixers are now in operation around the world, and they remain as popular today as they have always been.

Core competence in silage & animal feeding technology

In the mid-Nineties, the Austrian producer of agricultural machinery launched the production of silo tongs, the cornerstone for specialisation the livestock feeding sector. From this time onwards, the product range was extended continuously with devices associated with mobile silos and feed troughs. Today, MAMMUT specialises in high-quality ‘smart’ solutions for livestock feeding, feed distribution and silage extraction. The trend in favour of ‘Core Competence Livestock Feeding’ was strengthened by the ending of front load production in 2018. Based on the experience and expertise gained in mechanical engineering, combined with innovative power, Reinhold Frauscher and his team look to the future with optimism.

In our plant in Gurten (Upper Austria), silage technology, animal feeding technology and concrete mixers are all produced and completed on a daily basis. MAMMUT not only stands for strength but also for durability and technological leadership. From the development and design of our machines through to volume production, all of the important operational steps are accomplished within the company. Starting with metal machining and chip-cutting, through to welding and finally to the paint shop, we are always focused on precision and ultimate quality standards. Selected suppliers from the region supplement our versatile machine production operation with services such as laser cutting or powder coating. Through continuous improvement in our production operations and our manufacturing facilities, we create an attractive workplace for our employees with bright future prospects.

Individual solutions, made to measure

Particularly in the animal feeding technology sector, optimum adaptation to suit local requirements is important – due to the big differences in the shape and size of animal sheds, and in the consistency and nature of feed components. To ensure that our customers do not need to accept any compromises, in most cases we adapt feed mixing technology to suit individual wishes, and seek to accomplish the same with other products too. We are ideally equipped to do this with our production facilities in Gurten and with our highly motivated team.
